Altar serving is an opportunity wherein laity work alongside clergy during the liturgy. The shared goal of servers is to execute liturgical practices, as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer and other sources, to the praise and glory of God.

Altar servers are present at the Cathedral’s weekly services and are also occasionally called to serve at Requiem Eucharists, Evensong and Benediction, and in other settings in support of clergy.

Servers strive to conduct rites as unobtrusively as possible to magnify God’s presence. We are grateful for the reverent devotion of the servers who have come before us, and we offer ourselves today to “Give unto the LORD the honour due unto his Name.”

Anyone who is interested in becoming a server is invited to contact a member of the clergy.
